Runners follow an out-and-back course that unfolds largely along the banks of the Hocking Canal, the Athens Half Marathon starts and finishes on the campus of Ohio University. From there, runners make their way onto the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, a 19-mile-long biking, running and walking path that stretches alongside the canal, and then head back to campus for the race finish at Bob Wren Stadium.
